Please send photos and names to alex@tbw.com.au NELSON NIGHT MARKET THE Nelson Night Market has prospered after residents and holidaymakers made their way through a maze of stalls during the twilight event. Charlotte McBain spearheaded the suc- cessful market last month and has received endless support from Patty Lomas from the Nelson Kiosk. 1 3 Both women wanted to give Nelson residents and holidaymakers an event to create positive community spirit and pride in the township. Stallholders attended from Heywood, Mount Gambier, Port MacDonnell, Portland, Hamilton and Beachport and served around 300 visitors. Local businesses also benefited, with record sales of takeaway food during the evening and a special birthday celebration for Leila Huebner also featured on the night. Ms Huebner has been the driving force behind formation of the Nelson Coast Care Group, working tirelessly for recognition of the Nelson Estuary and Long Swamp restoration projects. A similar twilight market event will be held on Sunday from 6pm. 5 1: Morris Dickins from Dickins Delights of Mount Gambier sold fine quality chocolates at the Nelson Night Market. 2: Maureen and Cyril Stretton were pleased to offer the public preloved items from their stall at the twilight market event. 3: Market organisers Patty Lomas and Charlotte McBain were thrilled with the attendance at the twilight market. 4: Harvey McBain of Nelson Endeavour River Cruises joined his father Don. 7 5: Amy-Kate McBain shows off her drawing talents at the market. 6: Malcolm Barry and Lincoln Edwards served fairy floss during the evening. 7: Leila Huebner enjoyed celebrating her 76th birthday among family and friends, especially her daughter Belinda (left) and granddaughter Cassie (centre). 8: Nelson residents Lynn Gilbert and Trena Mullan enjoy some of Leila Huebner’s 76th birthday cake. 9 9: Wye stallholders Allison and Steve Saunders had great interest in showing market attendees their range of Matchbox cars and other trinkets. 10: Nelson resident and house painter Daryl Beavis offered to sell his hand-crafted redgum clock at the market. 11: Lindy Doman was happy with the amount of interest people showed in her handmade soaps. 10 11 8 6 4 2 Cool climate Bananas Several varieties Only $28.30 2 - The Border Watch, Thursday, January 8, 2015 Summer Berries Plant now!
