Please send your donations to: PO Box 1426, Mount Gambier, SA 5290 2 - The Border Watch, Thursday, January 22, 2015 Theatre hopeful takes step closer to dream Mount Gambier teen accepted into arts course From front page Grady completed a one-year foundation course at VCA in Melbourne last year, also undertaking a variety of dancing and singing activities while cheerleading with the Melbourne Cheer Academy. “It was a great insight to see how everything worked and what the lifestyle would be like once I was studying full-time,” he said. The application process for the course required several auditions, with Grady performing two songs and putting some of his dance routines to use. “The standard is high so there will be a lot of hard work involved to constantly work on new techniques and skills to improve as an upcoming performer,” he said. “I would love to work as a performer once I am finished with my course and to be cast in any professional act would be fantastic.” Grady hopes to be picked up by an agent towards the end of his degree and fulfill his “big dream” of performing internationally on the world famous Broadway or West End in London. “My musical theatre ambitions were always dreams because I never thought I could make it a reality,” he said. Grady already knows the pres- sure of working around the clock to mould himself into a bona fide performer. “During my time in Melbourne undertaking the foundation course I was performing and learning from 8am to 6.30pm for five days a week,” he said. “I have really learnt how to deal with my time well and some valuable skills to help support myself while I’m studying away from home.” CITY BOUND: Mount Gambier’s Grady Lynch will study a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in music theatre, at the Victorian College of the Arts. 659712
