The Border Watch : February 25th 2015
The Border Watch Wednesday, February 25, 2015 New girl in town A s the second season of the massively popular pay-TV reality series gets started, Gamble Breaux and fellow newbie Pettifleur Berenger join Gina Liano, Chyka Keebaugh, Jackie Gillies, Janet Roach and Lydia Schiavello for new adventures in the lap of luxury. Over the course of 11 episodes, viewers will get a glimpse of the glitzy, glamourous lives these women lead. And, of course, there are bound to be a few scuffles and squabbles thrown into the mix. Gamble, how did you become part of the Real Housewives of Melbourne universe? I know it sounds a bit silly to say “the universe will provide” but when I was watching it last year I thought I’d really like to be on that show. I’d come back to the Mornington Peninula and my partner [eye surgeon Dr Rick Wolfe] after a few years working at an art gallery in Sydney and got an email from the makers of Housewives offering me an audition for a role, and here we are today. What prompted the show to get in touch with you? Were you familiar with any of the other Housewives? Not really, no. I’d seen Gina [Liano] around, but I didn’t know any of the other women. But I’d had a very high-profile breakup with my ex-partner – it made the papers. We were in the social pages a lot, and fighting over a $160,000 car, which probably brought me to the attention of the talent scouts. And the art gallery I worked for was one of the most glamourous in Sydney, so that opened up Sydney to the Housewives. Breaux: “it’s daunting for me because i’ve had a few unexpected bombs dropped on me. it can be quite emotional and brutal.” What made you want to get involved? Your life appears relatively charmed as it is. It’s charmed now but it hasn’t always been. I have had a few unsuccessful relationships and I had some glamorous jobs that weren’t really that well-paid. So I struggle along like the rest of us. With the show, you’re thrown into beautiful situations with very glamorous women – you get to turn it up a notch. I mean, I was I Thursday February 26 I SEVEN Sa TEN Sa 6.00 Sunrise. Sometimes a very public breakup and a spat over who gets ownership of a $160,000 car can be the best thing to happen to a person. Just ask Gamble Breaux, the newest addition to the cast of The Real Housewives of Melbourne, who speaks with Guy Davis. looking at working in real estate doesn’t fit my profile the way something like Real Housewives does. Because it ity TV, it’s reality TV stylised. If the sho wants to hold a dinner party, it’s going to be the most beautiful dinner par Everything just pops. How was the initial reaction fr the other women on the show? Have they been nice to you? Or do they play dirty? Oh, yes! You don’t go on this sho expecting the girls to be nice. You get tossed into a situation where you don know what’s going to come at you. I for me because I’ve had a few unexpected bombs dropped on me. It can be quite emo tional and brutal. I could handle it but they had me on my toes for a while more comfortable now. But they had v established bonds and I was like the new girl in school. n The Real Housewives of Melbourne, on Arena (through Foxtel) at 8pm SBS ONE 6.00 Soccer. (CC) UEFA Champions League.
