SPORT NEWS TIPS sport@tbw.com.au SHARKS SOCCER PRESENTATIONS 35 Widdison best Shark BIG WINNER: Senior coach Vic Gentile (right) presents Brad Pilven with the seniors top goal scorer, Richard Marlow Memorial Golden Boot award as well as the reserves top goal scorer and most consistent award. SHARKS closed its 2013 soccer season with a presentation evening, combining both senior and junior award presentations on Saturday, September 28. Players, parents, coaches, life members and committee members gathered for the event with a two course meal catered by East Gambier Sportsmen’s Club with Gino Margiotta behind the bar. Special guests at the event included Bob Sandow, Bill Stephenson, Thelma Nicholls (life member), Ian Hill (meritorious/life member), Dino Gentile (meritorious/life member), John Bruttomesso (meritorious/life member), Joe Denman and John Stephenson. Award winners – Seniors: Heath Widdison (best and fairest), Andy Gentile (runner-up best and fairest), Brad Biszco-Lamont (most consistent), Bradley Pilven (top goal scorer, Richard Marlow Memorial Golden Boot award), Eric Johnson (coach’s trophy), Haydn Ellis (player of the year). COACH’S TROPHY: Eric Johnson is presented the senior grade coach’s trophy by coach Vic Gentile. Reserves: Paul Alvey (best and fairest), Jesse Widdison (runner up best and fairest), Bradley Pilven (most consistent), Bradley Pilven (top goal scorer), Rhys Parsons (coach’s trophy). Under 17: Matthew Bonney (best and fairest), Jake BiszcoLamont (runner-up best and fairest),Daniel Leary (most consistent), Dylan Kennett (top goal scorer), Amachai Bawden (coaches trophy). Under 14: Jacob Ellis (best and fairest), Damon Wilmot (runner-up best and fairest), Ko Htoo (most consistent), So Dar Moo (top goal scorer), Jake McMillan (coach’s trophy). Under 12: Jhett Perry and Kaleb Gentile (best and fairest), Saige Perry (runner-up best and fairest), Brodie Jackson (most consistent), Jhett Perry (top goal scorer), Brodie Jackson (coach’s trophy), Ashley Also (president’s rising star award). BEST CLUB MAN: Senior coach Vic Gentile (right) presents Craig McDonough with the best club man award. President John Bruttomesso would like to thank all of the new and long term sponsors for the support throughout the season. “Thank you to all the sponsors, coaching panel, the women who run the canteen, Gary Ashby and Cyfan Parsons for looking after our ground, thanks to everyone for all your hard work,” he said. Bruttomesso also announced new members of the coaching staff for 2014. John Stephenson has accepted the senior coaching position for 2014 and looks to build the Sharks side for the future while Warren McCallum will take on the under 17 coaching position. “I would also like to thank the Western Border Soccer Association for running things so well in 2013 and wish them all the best for 2014,” Bruttomesso said. RESERVES RUNNER UP: Jesse Widdison is presented the reserves runner up best and fairest trophy by Western Border Soccer Association life member Bill Stephenson. UNDER 17: Daniel Leary took out the under 17 most consistent award presented by coach Brenton Frahn. LIFE MEMBERS: Shane Widdison and Ian Hill. The Border Watch, Thursday, October 24, 2013 - 35 BEST AND FAIREST: Life member and sponsor Dino Gentile presents Heath Widdison with the senior best and fairest trophy at the Sharks presentation night. RESERVES: Paul Alvey claims his reserves best and fairest award from previous Western Border Soccer Association CEO and patron Bob Sandow.
