The event has gained legendary status across the country and with entries for this year’s event now closed, a capacity fi eld will again contest the event around the tight and twisty confi nes of the Valley Lakes. On the Friday 70 contestants will take to the track in pre-1979 vehicles, including iconic Australian muscle cars such as the GT Falcons and Toranas. Saturday and Sunday will see a variety of classes and vehilcles light up the track, from Datusn 120Ys to Mitsubishi Evos and everything in between. Race director Lionel Stingers said the event continues to attract a lot of attention, with entrants cueing up to register. “Some people enter the event within one minute of entries opening,” he said. “We had 102 entries in the fi rst two days.” Now in its eighth year, the hill climb has become a must-do on the Australian race calendar for many competitors.
