The rating applies to all variants of the new Pathfinder. The Pathfinder performed very well in most ANCAP tests and joins an already competitive SUV market segment. The Nissan JUKE, which achieved a 5 star rating upon its release in New Zealand in 2012, is now available in Australia and the rating carries forward. The rating applies to front- wheel drive variants with the 1.6 litre H16 petrol engine. Other variants, including those with the turbo-charged engine and all-wheel drive, are unrated. "It is very encouraging to see Nissan building 5 star cars and the Pathfinder result follows other Nissan 5 star results over the last few years", said ANCAP spokesperson, Mr Jack Haley. "It is becoming increasingly difficult to sell cars in Australia without a 5 star safety rating. Nissan should be congratulated on raising the Pathfinder to this higher level of safety". "With the Pathfinder, JUKE, DUALIS, Pulsar and LEAF all achieving a 5 star safety rating, we look forward to Nissan bringing the remainder of its fleet to this level".
