ADVERTISING FEATURE Build it and they will come BOATING might not be something you’d usually associate with the Mount Gambier Show, but that is indeed what’s on off er - at least in miniature scale. An interactive kids’ model boat-building event will be held for the fi rst time at the show. All are welcome to take part. Organiser Robert Ayliff e, who runs Mount Barker boat-building business Straydog Boatworks, said there will be two versions of wooden model kits on off er: one for building a sailing boat, and the other, a rubber-band powered paddle boat. “It just broadens the appeal of the event again,” Robert enthuses. “Participants will be able to build the kits up into battleships or liners. The fun event is modelled on a kids’ program Robert saw in America at Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival. Of the local version, he says “It gets kids back into making stuff . It’s not virtual, it’s real. You just get that buzz flowing. What really surprised us, as well, was the number who stayed all day - along with their parents.” “Age is no barrier either - participants can range from four years of age to 84.” Dairy Cattle return to Mount Gambier Show AS spring approaches so does the 153rd Mount Gambier Spring Show, The cattle section Committee is gearing up for another outstanding display of Dairy and Beef Cattle.
