NEWS TIPS newsroom@tbw.com.au NEWS 3 thrills bumper Saturday crowd a success despite wet weather being blamed for slow start to weekend long time,” he said. “We had some magnificent comments from patrons.” Mr Woodruff said the whole show ran to plan with minimal hiccups, apart from a stray wallaby that had been frequenting the grounds in recent months. “The wallaby seemed to get a bit anxious and it ended up crashing through the fence into the dog arena of all places,” he said. “We had the snake handlers on site who were familiar with wildlife and they eventually secured it and set it free in the pine forests.” One of the major drawcards to any show is the carnival rides and side shows and the patrons on Saturday night had overwhelming praise for the event. Groups of friends met up to enjoy a night out together, such as Tenison Woods College students Caitlin Harrap, Sam Kent and Lucy Dunsford. “We all go to Tenison and have been planning on coming for a while,” Lucy said. “It’s been good.” Likewise, Brian Purchase took his daughter Tahlia Jane along and rated the event as an eight out of 10. “We don’t miss many shows and this has been great,” he said. “We loved the fi reworks.” A new ride this year, the Cyclone, was also a strong drawcard for patrons. Mr Woodruff praised the work of volunteers and the support of sponsors for ensuring such a successful event this year. “Our costs are well over the gate takings, so without our sponsors and volunteers this wouldn’t happen,” he said. “Patrons come to the show for two days, but the volunteers are here for a week or more.” Mr Woodruff also reminded those who attended this year’s show the tickets featured a $5 redeemable voucher from Banner Mitre 10 in Mount Gambier to help offset the cost of attending.
