Choose $11,990 DRIVE FROM AWAY Whitehead victor Coopers WIN Television Biggest Golf Day Back at the 19th ABS A COMPETITIVE fi eld of 101 men took part in Saturday’s par round at Mount Gambier Golf Club. In the A grade, Ken Whitehead was the victor with +1, one shot ahead of Greg Dansie who played to his handicap, fi nishing square. Daryl Taylor and Jhett Perry battled for the prize in B grade when both fi nished +2, with Taylor narrowly winning on a countback. In C grade, in-form Brian Simmonds also fi nished +2, one shot in front of Lyndsay Copeman with +1. Fifteen ball competition winners including Luke Dwyer from the Port Fairy Golf Club needed a score of -2 or better to score a ball. Birdie ball competition winners were Kevin Cook, Wayne Elliott, David McPherson, Graham Greenwood, Ian Driscoll, Daryl Morgan, Richard Gosling, Richard Evans and Jack Peacock. Nearest the pin winners were Michael Smith (A), Leigh McCracken (B) and Kristian Torpstrom (C) who was also won the pro shot on the eighth. John Shirley won the pro shot on the 16th. With a few travellers returning, there were 15 women who also played a par round. This week’s winner was Penne Saffi n with -2 on a countback from Kerry Pedlar, who has returned from Melbourne after competing in her recent marathon. Ball competition winners were Kerry Pedlar, Sandi Elliott, Bev Pedlar, Glenise Johnstone and Betty McKechnie. Di O’Donnell won nearest the pin on the 16th. Next week’s round will be a stroke round for the November monthly medal. Thursday’s results THE $80 voucher for Thursday’s stableford competition was won by young Caleb Perry when he returned to the clubhouse with 40 points. In a field of 68 players, Peter Dempsey was runner-up with 39 points closely followed by the Davids – Turnbull, Platt and Roughana, all with 38. There were 16 ball competition winners who needed 34 points or better. The birdie ball competition winners were John Carroll, John Beaumont, Henry Forbes, Ken Whitehead and Simon Wiseman with Wiseman also winning the pro shot (six balls) on the eighth. Matthew Pritchard won the pro shot on the 16th. Members’ draw THE draw was not won last week and is worth $250 this week. The draw is conducted between 6pm and 7pm every Friday night and the lucky member must be present to win. Meals are available from 5.30pm. WIN TV 9 for $9 Competition LAST Wednesday 40 players participated in the WIN TV 9 for $9 stableford competition. The winner for the members’ team was Jarrod Stokker with 25 points (two balls) from Brian Simmonds 23, Leanne Bain 21, Trevor McLean 19, Joe Clements 18 and Matt Knowles 17 points, one ball. For the visitors, W. May carded 19 points and was the winner (two balls) from Sam Shaw 17 and Kane Baldwin 16 points, one ball. Cost for 9 holes is $9 for non members, $3 for members. Players are reminded that you may play the front or back nine holes and to make sure your scorecard is legible. If it can’t be read, your score will not be included. Coming events November 5: Women’s Melbourne Cup Luncheon commencing at 11.30am. $25 for a two course luncheon and mystery bet.
