LIMESTONE COASTalive Teen lives music dream International line-up EXCIT riangl rs HO PH HOLMES PHIL phil@tbw.com.au phil@ HARRISON Craig continues to “live the dream” after winning Australia’s highest rating music show - The Voice Australia - last year. The Melbourne teen became an overnight success when he wowed the judges and audiences all over Australia with his rendition of the Lara Fabian song Broken Vow at the blind auditions for the show. Ricky Martin, Joel Madden, Delta Goodrem and Seal all wanted Harrison on their team and he decided on the latter, forming a strong relationship on his path to victory. Craig, who turned 19 recently, is now on his national More Than A Dream tour. He will be performing at Mount Gambier’s Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre with the support of Chris Rose and musical director John Foreman next Wednesday. Speaking to The Border Watch, the “popera” artist said he was looking forward to visiting Mount Gambier and many other regional centres across Australia. “The regional areas are just as important to perform shows at because a lot of the fans can’t make it to capital cities,” he said. “I know Mount Gambier especially is a fair drive from Adelaide, so we wanted to make sure the town was on the tour. “A lot of artists neglect the regional areas, but I didn’t want to do that. neglect the regional “They’ve supported me just as much as anyone else and this is my opportunity to pay back that faith.” The tour started at Brisbane on September 27 and will fi nish at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on November 23. Harrison has 25 shows scheduled over two months of extensive touring throughout Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. Since winning the Voice earlier this year, the teenager’s world has been a whirlwind. He has been busy promoting, writing and travelling over the past few months. “It’s been amazing - your world just gets turned upside down, but in a good way of course,” he said. “Straight after the show there was quite a bit of promo stuff to do and then I had a writing trip to America. “That was intense, I’m still pinching myself.” Travelling back to Australia after a successful time writing new songs, a detour to France saw Harrison reunite with mentor and now great friend Seal. “Seal invited me to visit him in France, so we went over there and it was amazing, just beautiful,” Harrison said. “He’s such a great guy who actually genuinely cares, which was so nice to have and a big part of why we had so much success as a team. “Not everyone is like that in the industry.” HEADING FOR THE HELPMANN: The Voice 2013 winner Harrison Craig will perform in Mount Gambier next week. riangle region’s biggest annual music festival with rst 32 acts named for the 2014 Port Fairy Folk Festival.
