After some shuffl ing around, due to missing players, tournament organiser, Ben Newman had everyone in their teams and hitting away on time. The match-of-the-round in Division 1 was between Vipers and TP Industries with many of the individual games going the full fi ve sets. The match between Chandler Jantosh (Vipers) and Ben Newman (TP Industries) went the whole way with Jantosh the eventual victor, 11-8. Jantosh was again the winner in his second singles game in a surprise upset against Alex Young. TP Industries’ Nathan Schubert also came out on top after a tight tussle with Carolyn Dean. The two teams fi nished the night with a 6-6 draw. However in a bizarre coincidence, not only was the match score even, the set score was also level and to go even further than that when the point scores were tallied, there was another tie, 441 points each. Other memorable games in Division 1 included Coehen Keppels (Attributes) v Ronald Reid (Noobs ‘N’ Dudes) as well as Scott Davies (WOFTAM) v Ken Bierworth (Big Ben) who all fought out tough 5-setters. Division 2 also featured some great games with newcomer Karen Pink from Smash it Babes fi ghting out a long game against Jack Howard of Young at Heart before claiming the win. In 2012, the inaugural tournament attracted 11 teams and it is expected a similar number will line up on November 15. Entries for the event offi cial close this Sunday (November 10). The tournament format will again include teams of fi ve cueists each, playing a full series of round robin matches over the course of the weekend dates, while a double elimination singles knockout tourney will precede the event proper on the Friday night.
