The ACA Masters will take on a representative team from the Naracoorte and District Cricket Association in an action packed T20 game on Sunday December 1 at Wortley Oval as well as taking part in a range of other activities. The Tour is supported by the Naracoorte Lucindale Council and the Naracoorte Cricket Club. SUCCESS: Fiona McDonald and Eden Ling have tasted success at Mildura, attaining their level 10 status in gymnastics. Blue Lake gymnasts attain level 10 status TWO female gymnasts from the Blue Lake Gymnastic Club, Eden Ling and Fiona McDonald, have returned from competition in Mildura having attained their level 10 status, a success rarely reached by gymnasts in a country club. In this type of competition the gymnast performs an optional routine they have choreographed with the assistance of a coach. The routine must include specifi c requirements and have a minimum number of skills. The gymnast starts with a base score which incurs deductions for execution and can build the score by including more diffi cult tricks. In order to pass the level they must reach a minimum score. The levels system for girls starts at level 1 and continues until reaching the highest level – level 10. To reach this level the gymnast must be dedicated and have a lot of determination and courage. McDonald’s family has travelled around the state and she has been a member of several clubs. Before joining the Blue Lake Club she was coached by Sam Fensom at the Millicent Gym Club. Since coming to the Blue Lake Club she has successfully passed level nine and 10. Ling has been a member of the Blue Lake Club for more than 10 years, starting at level 1 and working her way through. She was coached by Fiona Unger for several years and by Chris Hastie over the last few levels. “Both girls have worked very hard this year and it is pleasing to see them gain the results they’ve worked for,” Hastie said . “They have worked through injury and illness, and Eden has juggled training with Year 12 studies. “We hope both girls continue their gymnastics, learning and achieving more diffi cult skills as they go.” The Blue Lake Club will be conduct- ing its Annual Invitational competition this Saturday with clubs from Victoria and Adelaide participating. It will also be a level testing for boys and local club member Matt Jennings will be hoping for success at testing for level 10. The club is inviting members of the community to watch the gymnasts perform their routines and offer support. He was representing the country of his birth, Canada. Davison is a prominent coach in Australian cricket circles who continues to work with players in the national men’s and women’s teams as well as at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. A veteran of 214 first class matches, Elliott played for both South Australia and Victoria, making 50 centuries at that level, including three tons in a 21 international Test career. An exquisite timer of the ball, Elliott combined elegant drives with deadly pulls and hooks. These were on display during his highest Test score of 199 against England during the 1997 Ashes series. He was named one of Wisden’s fi ve cricketers of the year in 1998. Elliott said he was looking forward to the game. “I’m really excited to be part of the tour and can’t wait to get involved,” he said. “I’m really pumped to be supporting cricket in Naracoorte and the surrounding area and hope we can put on a good show during the match and the other events around the tour.” The tour will also include in2CRICKET coaching clinics for primary school children and a sportsman’s function on the Saturday night before the match. The Masters program has been developed by the ACA, the offi cial representative body of past and present players, with a focus on the promotion of cricket. It is primarily funded by the current fi rst class and Australian players as part of their commitment to developing the game in regional Australia and engaging with local communities.
