Welfare agencies create register to identify people in need at Christmas WITH the festive season drawing closer, the Community Assistance Network has launched a registration process for individuals and families in need of extra support during Christmas. The Christmas Cheer program will allow those in need to register with one of fi ve Mount Gambier agencies which are supported by the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. ac.care, Lifeline, Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and Uniting Care have jumped on-board for the 2013 appeal with registrations opening last Friday and continuing through until December 13. All five agencies are registered charities, relying on community donations to fund their services, working in partnership to ensure that everybody in need in the community is provided for in some way at Christmas time. Agencies are anticipating increased demand again this year as costs continue to rise. Individuals are only able to register with one agency and they will need to produce a healthcare or pension card at assessment. The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal funds are used to provide Christmas food hampers and other essential items for people within the city and district community that are in need of extra support. Alcohol or cigarettes do not form part of hampers and the various agencies register and cross reference all recipients to avoid duplication. 609264 629518 632312 50% OFF Luxus Quilts & U/lays Queen Quilt Now $225
