30 BMX RACING Blue Lake BMX stars continue to shine THE Blue Lake BMX Club was represented at the 2013 Victorian Open State Championship event in Frankston by a strong contingent of local riders on the November 15-17 weekend. Thirty Blue Lake riders took to the world class track at Frankston BMX Club alongside a record total of 978 riders from across Australia to compete for a desired Victorian title. Battling the strong competition in the six-year-old sprockets was Cooper McCann who performed well for his debut race meet. Cooper Cranage proved competitive in the seven-year-old boys class where he continues to excel, gaining a wide selection of successful results and building on his bright future. Jye Smith and Caiden Garrett mixed it up and worked hard in a competitive class of boys. Smith has been racing the state series throughout Adelaide and achieving solid results, proving continuous hard work at training eventually pays off. Trae Wilke and Angus McKinnon also represented the seven-year-old boys class and threatened the competitive riders on the track. Eight female riders travelled interstate to represent the Blue Lake BMX Club in various ages groups and classes. After a hugely successful world titles result earlier this year, Sarah Ritter dominated the nine-year-old girls class and was undefeated at the competition and took out the number one podium position. Ritter proved too strong and out classed the competition. Older sister Jade also placed well, claiming the second position on the podium in the 11-year-old girls class. Alysha Coon, Lexi White and Meg White all rode competitively in the eight-year-old girls class and gained valuable experience racing interstate. All riders were determined and competitive at the event with many new rankings recorded. Riders are currently training and preparing for Adelaide’s South Australian State Titles in February next year.
