6| tvwatch el Doyle is undoubtedly already a bit of a hit with her three children but this Christmas season has seen her obtain what she happily refers to as “major cred with the kids” – after all, who else would be able to brag that their mum is hosting the much-loved Carols in the Domain event? “I’m very excited but they’re even more M excited,” she laughed. “They’re even angling to come along to the rehearsal the night before.” This year marks Doyle’s first time hosting the event, and she’ll be sharing the stage with Seven journalist (and Carols in the Domain veteran) Matt White. “Given that the two of us can talk under wet cement, I figure we should be okay up there,” she said. “Matt is a delight to work with and he knows the ropes so I can defer to him when it comes to any tricky parts. When I was asked if I’d like to host – which of course I jumped at – he told me it was the most fun, most magical night, so I’m just looking forward to enjoying it for what it is. “To be able to stand up there and see everyone enjoying Carols, to see that sea of candles from this different perspective, is a lovely way to cap off the year, I think.” Indeed, the Carols gig caps off a very eventful year for Doyle, one that saw her exit her long-standing role on Seven’s breakfast program Sunrise and take on a variety of other tasks at the network and elsewhere.
