In A grade, Andrew Stark – now a Millicent Golf Club member – scored 23 points on the homeward 9-holes for a 42 total and a two stroke win from Anthony Ellis on 40. Jason Mann and Damian Smith battled it out in B grade with the former winning on a countback after both posted 37 points. C grade was won by Troy Hosking with 41, three better than Darren Griffin. A total of 35 points was required to score victory in the golf ball competition. Nearest the pin winners included Hayden Schroder (A grade), Damian Smith (B) and Jim McPherson (C) while Damian Smith won the pro shot on the 8th hole and Des Guerin was successful 16th. Birdie ball competition win- ners were Tim Scanlon, Richard Farrance, Damian Smith, Anthony Ellis, Matthew Knowles, Kevin Lennon and Wayne Cooper. A smallish group of six women contested a stableford round with Leanne Bain carrying her consistent form to produce 45 points which was a comfortable eight stroke buffer to Penne Saffin. Nearest the pin winner was Betty McKechnie. This Saturday's competition will be an 18-hole single stroke, coinciding with the opening round of the men's club championships. Round 2 will be played on Sunday and the final 36-holes of the strokeplay title will be held the following weekend. Thursday's stableford LAST Thursday's 18-hole stableford saw 88 men vie for a $100 voucher in warm conditions. Some excellent scores were produced, but Des Guerin, following on from his runner-up placing the previous Saturday, was the victor with 43 points. Daryl Morgan – playing off scratch – second with 42, which equated to a six under par 65 around the Attamurra layout. To claim second spot however, Morgan had to rely on a favourable countback from John Osman. Chris Lynch also scored well with 41 points, while visitors from both the Blue Lake and Millicent golf clubs were among the 19 ball competition winners who scored 36 points or better. Dwayne Baker, a prominent supporter of junior golf in the South East district, found the par 4, 3rd hole to his liking when he scored an eagle two. Pro shot winners were Brian Simmonds and Nick Black on the 8th and 16th holes respectively. Ian Driscoll was the only birdie ball winner. Competition was keen and Matt Kuchel was the victor for the members, winning in a countback from Rick Poole. Both scored 22 points. Gary Button was third with 21 followed by Andy Cameron, Chris Taylor, Mat Knowles, Justin Devlin and Caleb Perry, all on 20. Bryan Hunt, Chris Button and Leanne Bain completed the list of golf ball winners. In the visitors' field, Hayden Dow won with 21 points, one ahead of Jack Jennings who in turn was followed by Jamie McRae 19, Tim Gilbourne 18 and James Castley 18. Members’ lucky draw and 9-hole competition THE members’ weekly lucky draw has jackpotted to $800, which could be given away this Friday between 6pm and 7pm – providing the "lucky" member is in attendance. Meals will be available from 5.30pm. The official presentation of the Seems-Ryan Skins Challenge will also take place this Friday at 7pm.
