SOUTH EAST AUTOTRADE HIGH GUN: Runner-up Brian Spring congratulates winner Ken Atkin. Shooters on target Plenty of high scores recorded IN sunny conditions with minimal wind, the Mount Gambier Gun Club hosted three events on Saturday where a number of shooters obtained perfect scores. The first event was the Elders Gambier Farm Supplies 50 target zone skeet championship. Plenty of high scores were recorded as shooters were fighting for state selection and the opportunity to compete nationally. Dougal Simson 48/50 won the AA grade from Ken Atkin 46/50 while Kevin Mules 47/50 took out the A grade, Brian Spring 59/61 won the B grade and Melanie Jones 43/50 claimed the C grade win over Greg Kessegian. The N.F. McDonnell and Sons 25 target double barrel was keenly contested with six shooters attaining perfect scores thus resulting in shoot offs in all grades. Atkin 25/25 was the AA winner ahead of Kessegian 48/49, Craig Elliot 41/41 took out the A grade from Mules 56/57 while Darren Murrell 32/32 won the B grade and Andrew Smith 24/27 claimed the C grade win. The Richard Jones Automotive 25 continental championship was shot well with shoot offs taking place in all grades once more. Max Medhurst 43/43 took out the AA grade after narrowly defeating Atkin 42/43, Warren Lindner 26/26 claimed the A grade win from Peter Winser 25/26 while Tom Jenkins 24/25 won the B grade and Andrew Jenkins 21/26 won the C grade. The South East Autotrade high gun saw a shoot off between Atkin and Spring who both obtained a 96/100 after a long shoot off over the three different trad settings. Atkin eventually claimed the win 140/148. Black Crow Club was put in place this year with shooters raising money for charity through missed targets and membership money. The first member from the club was Max Medhurst who gained a second nomination and was followed by Peter Winser, Brian Spring, Tom Hetherington and Stuart Bowd. N.F.
