Daley regained the form that led him to the top of the leaderboard in the opening round, to defeat Bryan Pink in straight frames in the overall grand final. The Joker Pool competition ran for five qualifying rounds and a grand final night playoff and in total, distributed more than $1100 in prizemoney. The format of the tournament offered $100 prizemoney each week and players were able to earn points which enabled them to qualify for the final night. Each player was issued with a joker card which allowed them double their qualifying points on one selected occasion. Players were also rewarded with dropping their worst weekly score. Another feature of the carnival was double elimination, meaning players had to lose twice before dropping out. The five weekly winners included Chase Daley, Richard Peters, Mark Walker, Fred Newton and Mick Hutchinson and all qualified for the final playoffs. On grand final night Daley qualified in fourth position and systematically defeated John Simpson, Ken Bradley, Richard Peters and Bryan Pink, although the latter was able to re-qualify through the loser’s bracket. Prior to that, Pink had beaten a string of higher qualifiers, including Ben Placucci, Shaun Patzel and Mark Walker and then in the bottom half of the draw, again accounted for Patzel before eliminating Richard Peters.
