Mount Gambier’s Misfits undefeated in weekend-long baseball Mount Gambier Legends President David THE eighth annual Mount Gambier Baseball Masters was held last weekend at Blue Lake Sports Park Mount Gambier. Ten teams nominated for the competition held over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Six teams travelled from Adelaide, one from Naracoorte and three teams from Mount Gambier made up the 10. Weather conditions were ideal apart from some rain on Friday night but not enough to interrupt the playing schedule. At total 25 games of 90 minutes duration were played during the tournament, with all teams playing five games. Mount Gambier Misfits after being runnerup last year, won all of their five games to win the gold medallions while Northern Aces Blue only lost one game to pick up the silver medals. In third spot winning bronze was Golden Grove Dodgers who edged out the Mount Gambier Legends by one win. The Misfits comprised current Mount Gambier Division 1 and 2 players, retired players and two former players now residing in Adelaide. O’Dine presented medals to all winning team members. The competition is organised and run by the Mount Gambier Legends Baseball Club. Before presenting the medals, Club President David O’Dine thanked all participants, umpires, scorers and volunteers who gave so freely of their time over the duration of the competition in particular Lynne O’Dine and Karyn Chuck who ran the canteen.
