SOUTH EAST AUTOTRADE HIGH GUN: Andrew Hoare presents Ken Atkins with his winning prize. Atkins top shot IN wet conditions the Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competitions last weekend. The Scott Petroleum Skeet Doubles Championship was first up which saw shooters show their marksmanship in the challenging competition. In the AA category Malcolm Whitehead was best with 24/23, Steve Zadow topped the A grade with 22/25, Gavin Height was best in the B grade with 23/29, while in the C grade John McIntyre was best with 24/25. The Rabobank 25 Pointscore Championship saw a shoot off required to decide the final placings. Max Medhurst and Gavin Height both shot perfect scores and continued the same form in the shoot off, reaching 135/135 each before calling it a draw. Alan Jones won the A grade with 73/75 from Hayden Megaw. Brian Spring was best in the B grade with 73/75 ahead of John Taarnby while new shooter Phillip Bowd took out the C grade with 61/75 in his first shoot, ahead of Garry Bowd. The Atkin Family 25 Double Barrel Championship with a number of shooters returning perfect scores, resulting in shoot offs in all grades. Andrew Hoare took out the AA grade with 46/46, narrowly ahead of Medhurst with 45/46. Mick Little won the A grade with 40/40 ahead of Jones on 39/40 while Brian Spring took out the B grade with 35/36 ahead of Peter Caskey. In the C grade Garry Bowd turned the tables on Phillip Bowd, winning the competition with 24/26. The South East Autotrade High Gun over the three events was decided with yet another shoot off, between Atkin, Height and Kevin Mules. Atkin was the eventual winner with 133/141. Phillip Bowd joined the Black Crow Club after his performance in the competition.
