Popular Melbourne DJ on deck at Mac’s A MELBOURNE DJ will keep the dance fl oor pumping at Mac’s Hotel on Saturday night. Holly-Jane Simpson - who performs under the stage name Holly-J - will bring her renowned heavy-hitting style to Mount Gambier as part of a short journey west of her home, also appearing in Warrnambool tomorrow night. Catapulting onto the Australian music scene fi ve years ago, Holly-J has been inspired by artists such as Afrojack, Porter Robinson, Hardwell and banana-bouncing Dada Life. As a producer and DJ, her talent is raw, but the product is perfectly tuned. With tracks signed on international labels Dogma Records, Orphan Music and Phethouse Records, the studio charmer has taken it up a notch, securing number one chart spots with her Out My Bitch remix alongside Stevie Mink through Ministry of Sound Australia, and original EP Bass Bitch rushing the Beatport charts and gaining ample attention from Axwell, Tiesto and Markus Schulz. Having supported the likes of Avicii, Felix Cartal and Chuckie, Holly-J has gained a solid following with residencies at Wah Wah Lounge and Billboard, along with numerous guest spots all over the country. Not shy of huge crowds, Holly-J has also appeared at Stereosonic, the St Kilda Festival and Future Music. Australian comedy icon heads south THE widely acclaimed queen of Australian comedy is coming to Mount Gambier. Fiona O’Loughlin will perform a one-off two hour show at the Gambier Hotel next Thursday, accompanied by Ethel Chop and Anthony Lamond for a night of laughs. The mother of fi ve from Alice Springs has a career that spans over two decades, building her profi le by appearing at top comedy festivals, television programs and comedy venues. O’Loughlin has taken her story-based stand-up all over the planet, headlining Los Angeles’ world-renowned Improv Comedy Club, playing repeat seasons in Hong Kong, Edinburgh Fringe, Montreal’s invitation-only Just For Laughs and the UK’s oldest, Leicester Comedy Festival. BRINGING THE LAUGHS: Australian comedy star Fiona O’Loughlin will visit Mount Gambier next week for a one-off appearance. The multi-award winner has also been a hit on television with guest appearances on Sunrise, Good News Week, Spicks and Specks, The Circle, Talkin’ Bout Your Generation, The World Stands Up, Celebrity Apprentice and numerous Comedy Festival Gala events. Tickets are strictly limited for the event, which gets underway at 8pm.
