SPORT NEWS TIPS email@example.com THE stylish WBFL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NEW SWIFT AUTO GL VOTING in The Border Watch-Sportspower Western Border Playerof-the-Year award has taken a new twist with South Gambier forward Brett Exelby joining West Gambier’s Tom Holmes and North Gambier coach, Justin McConnell as equal leader. Exelby polled two votes after kicking seven goals in the Demons’ 117 point win over Casterton/ Sandford at the weekend and is the only player in the competition to score in four separate games this season. One of the major movers – aside of Exelby – was West Gambier defender, Steven Wenman who picked up two votes in the Kangaroos’ 91 point demolition of Millicent at Malseed Park. It was the third consecutive game that Wenman has polled in and his tally of six votes, places him in equal fourth with teammate Elliot King on six votes and two behind the Exelby, Holmes, McConnell trio. EQUAL LEADER: Justin McConnell (North Gambier) Daron McElroy was judged best afield in the West v Millicent match, while Ashley Bryant (South) and Nick Blachut (North) scored maximum votes in their team’s respective wins.
