Regular Saturday golf for the Attamurra girls offi cially began in the 1990s, catering for those who normally worked Monday to Friday. GRADE WINNERS: Individual grade winners at Attamurra last Wednesday included (from left) Kerry Pedlar (B), Mel Bawden (A) and Jennette Braun (C). The annual dinner was held at the Silver Birch Motel restaurant, a generous sponsor of women’s golf at the Attamurra based through 2013. HUDSON-HAIG TROPHY (from left): Heather Barry (winner), Lyn Hudson (sponsor), Toi Haig (sponsor) and Di O’Donnell (runner-up). All events were keenly contested and have been a special incentive and source of interest for all players each Saturday. The mother-daughter combination of Bev and Kerry Pedlar easily kept the majority of competitors at bay to scoop the pool in three of the fi ve events on offer. Bev Pedlar claimed the weekly points competition by amassing 20 compared to Kerry’s 14 and she then went on to win the prestigious eclectic competition with a net score of 62. Not to be denied totally, Kerry Pedlar convincingly won the Olympic Trophy with a seven shot margin to Betty McKechnie. The Hudson-Haig Trophy – donated by long time MGGC members, Lyn Hudson and Toi Haig – is determined by the best three monthly medal scores and was won by Heather Barry from Di O’Donnell while the corresponding monthly medal putting competition - sponsored by Janine Jenner and All Bugs Pest Control - was claimed by consistent player, Heather Chapman. Held in windy but dry conditions, the event included a fairway accuracy competition. Sisters, Sue Ryan and Debbie Sheather played 9-holes, both recording better than par rounds. On this occasion Ryan had bragging rights over her younger sibling, carding +3 compared to +1. The best 18-hole score came from A grader, Mel Bawden on +3, two shots better than Linley Gray and three ahead of Yvonne Shirley. Bawden also won the accuracy event with 4 strikes. Jennette Braun stepped up from her regular 9-hole competition to win C grade with -2 and held out Heather Hadnum and Betty Gray by one stroke. The pro-shot was won by Faye Mainwaring, Heather Chapman was the most accurate in B grade with 12 fairway strikes and Betty Gray won C grade with nine fairway strikes.
